Los Angeles Rams linebacker Clay Matthews will be sidelined for four to six weeks trainer Sean McVay told reporters on Friday.
Matthews will undergo surgery, according McVay. That is not good to us, the trainer said. That is a big harm.
Matthews continued the injury on Thursday to the Seattle Seahawks during Los Angeles 30-29 loss.
McVay says he believes when Seattle running back Chris Carson kicked Matthews from the face, it occurred.
33, matthews, was off to a solid start with the Rams in his first season.
He has six sacks, two forced fumbles and 19 tackles in five matches.
Matthews, who spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, has 89.5 career sacks in 148 matches (142 begins ).
Rams receiver Brandin Cooks (concussion) also was injured and has been placed at the NFL protocol.
Cooks was injured in the fourth quarter.
Cooks has 20 receptions for yards and a touchdown. He topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of the preceding four seasons – double using the New Orleans Saints with all the Rams at 2018 and with the New England Patriots.
