Paul Scholes doesn’t think Manchester United can compete for the Premier League title in the subsequent two years.
Even the midfielder believes the negative results this season show they stay at the Premier League behind last year’s top four.
United, who brought past weekend, have only one victory from their opening four matches, having drawn with Wolves after thrashing Chelsea on the opening afternoon and lost at home to Crystal Palace.
Scholes said: »I believe you have to compose United off to the next two years – that group – till Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stripped everything he needs out; includes four or five transfer windows.
« United will be supporting Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.
« I think that this is United at the moment; you need to be patient with the young players however, the experienced players have to step up.
« We have noticed over and over again how many mistakes seasoned players are creating. It is hard for young players to develop to a group such as this. »
Scholes implied that Solskjaer made the incorrect choice to withdraw Juan Mata following Jannick Vestergaard cancelled out Dan James’ opener in the 1-1 draw at St Mary’s last weekend.
« I am disappointed. It seemed like from once the second Juan Mata went off, actually. I was amazed as I thought if anybody will make something it is Juan Mata, » Scholes said.
« But it was not the young players I was disappointed with, it had been the experienced players. Ashley Young gave the ball away, when Matic arrived he gave away the ball.
« These are those that young players are looking up to, the cases you are taking a look at. »
